Mr. Eric Gilbertson Wins the District Service to Mankind Award

Service to Mankind Award 2011-2012

The Central Florida District “SERvice TO MAnkind” banquet was held Thursday September 22nd. Nine CFD clubs presented their 2011-2012 “SERvice TO MAnkind” club recipient and nominee to the district to all in attendance. After hearing all the nominees being presented, it was no surprise that the judges had a very difficult job coming up with a district winner. It was very clear that all the recipients were well chosen and very deserving of the “SERvice TO Mankind award:

The 2011-2012 CFD Service to Mankind Recipient is:
 
Mr. Eric Gilbertson nominated by the Seaport Sertoma Club for his volunteer service as volunteer director of the Samaritan Project of Zephyrhills” from it’s inception in May of 2008! The Samaritan Project is a unique community wide partnership of government, business and faith based organizations with a defined goal to meet the individual needs of the community. Food for transients was the first prime community concern followed by a food kitchen. After that additional services such as medical assistance, as well as rent and utilities assistance. The homeless in the community has been growing and changing due to the poor economy and depressed housing market. This led to setting up sleeping quarters for individuals and several family units. The Chancey Road Christian Church is both a Church and Community Center. All parts of the church are used at various times for the Samaritan Project.
